Moving Announcement!

Moving on (again)

I strategize. I plan. I take action.

This is my process.  This is how I lead, how I execute and how I live.

No Limits Life Empowerment Institute is moving! (and so is shaman grocer and my glass studio!)

We’ve been planning for this move for at least a year and it is happening right now! I’m very excited.  Beyond excited and it’s been a super weird crazy experience, as it usually is when you level up your life and people around you…well, don’t.

I’ve been through this a few times and I’ve seen it with others.  When people decide to make a change that has them departing from a group or institution, the group or institution has a choice how it will react: be excited and supportive or take offense.  I’ve somehow ended up with some pretty low vibration associations which have taken the offense path and I am currently writing up some information and analysis on how to deal with that if it happens to you…because it happened to me.

Bottom line: low vibration atmospheres suck – literally suck the life out of you.  High vibration is the way to go – they empower and support and require more from the best of you while growing you.  Be high vibe.

BACK TO THE EXCITEMENT PART!

Here is the scoop:

No Limits Life Coaching became No Limits Life Empowerment Institute a few months ago.  You may have noticed that, or you may need to wake up….seriously, pay attention people! We have moved primarily online and are working on building our online home right now. (It’s like we are living in our RV on the property and are watching construction.)

We are also available locally and totally willing to travel to your home state or city for workshops or events.  Especially if you live near the beach or are anywhere in Washington State, California or Colorado.  I, Jennifer will personally be working out of the co-working space in Cedar Rapids – The Vault, for a while and I’m super excited! Our mission at No Limits Life Empowerment Institute is to help you move forward with your life using your strengths.

Shaman Grocer, our store is relocating to Iowa City, Iowa – home of the University of Iowa a big ten school you may have noticed on ESPN, the BIG10 network or anywhere college football is spoken of in loud bawdy cheers.  Or your doctor may have a diploma from there on her wall.  We will be at 114 ½ College Street in suite 5 in an area with a seedy reputation that is part of its charm for us and is slowly shifting from seedy to centered – the Hall Mall.

Shaman Grocer is our physical extension of the energy we cultivate daily.  As a minimalist it may seem a little weird that I own a store but here is how that works: we want you to buy things that you both love and that have function.  We sell our glass work but also things like sage, palo santo, resins, and local made soaps.  We cultivate relationships with local artists to find functional pottery, fabric items and woodworked pieces.  We offer incense, incense burners, and buy only what we can link to the source – we try our best to be responsible!! Our mission is to help you “Find your piece to find your Peace.”

(We’ll be online roughly 3 months after I wanted to be, later next week and I will share that link with you.)

Our glass studio is moving home with us.  We’ll be back up and running later this summer after we get into our new home and we will offer lessons again.  We may just be a little more selective since we are inviting you into our home.

So yes!  We are moving 3 currently co-located businesses into 3 separate locations.  Yes, it is chaotic as it sounds.  But we planned for this: we strategized, we planned and now we are acting.

….and it feels so good!

The Manifesto – No Limits Life Empowerment Institute

My tribe is all about courage. My tribe wants courage to step out of the expected into the authentic.  My tribe doesn’t want to be stressed out, working jobs they hate in relationships that stifle them.

They want to thrive.

But they are afraid.

“What will people think? What will people say? What happens if I change? My life isn’t what I want, but what if it gets worse when I change? Who am I to ask for more?”  They exclaim.

“Oh, but what if it gets better!? Can I handle better? Do I deserve better? ” They whisper.

My tribe is simultaneously their best asset and ally and worst obstacle and enemy.

My tribe has ideas they want to follow, but aren’t sure how. They want to have more ideas and impact the world in a positive, big way. My tribe doesn’t want to live small. They want to live big, without limits and without constriction on the good they can do. They are fierce, independent beings who have too long not allowed their true nature to shine.

My tribe wants to be their own boss, they want to express their creative and spiritual gifts and talents and callings in a way that creates a purpose based profitable lifestyle for themselves. They want to move past the old idea that being a creative or a spiritual professional can’t pay the bills and create the lifestyle they want while simultaneously serving others and sharing messages in a big way.

My tribe has settled for too long in the lives constructed on false definitions of success and is ready to make some changes allowing them to be more, do more and live more fully.  They are going to walk through things that scare them, they will stumble and fall over these things but they will get back up and keep moving.

My tribe seeks courage within to do what fear says is too hard. They seek to do what their programming declares impossible. They crave the energy of creativity and spirituality as a way of life and not just something they do. My tribe is afraid and doing it anyway.  They are ready to face the fears and heal them, to face the old programming and reprogram it. They seek personal development and growth and are open to new thoughts, patterns and perspectives.

They want to be in love with their life – every single minute of it – and they take action to make love grow.

Turn Your Life Into an Empowered Life

I signed in to my bank account to do the monthly financial check to see how everything was looking.  As I cautiously hit the “Sign In” button, I thought I was ready for the number.  I wasn’t.  It was lower.  Much lower.

Fear gripped me.  I decided to do my psychic/healing work full-time, knowing that there would be rough patches on the road, but I wasn’t prepared for just how deep those potholes would be.  Now I had the fear, terror and hopelessness that such a rough road could become.

My mind went immediately to worst-case scenarios, with their accompanying feelings of dread and disappointment.  Then the emotional landscape shifted to feelings of anger at myself and my situation; then to blame.  Then full-blown panic.

I had to stop this movement toward the Dark Side.

I stopped.  I closed my eyes and got in touch with that Inner Voice and Wisdom that I talk and write about so much.  The answers I received surprised me.

As much as I was doing, I realized that I was working within a very limited view of my abilities, aptitudes and influence.  The truth stared me in the face: I was working in the wrong head-space.  Rather than pushing the envelope in my areas of work, I was staking out fenceposts that said, “Do this much and no more.  This is your work, so just stick with it.  Change is deadly.”  By building those limits, and choosing to stay within them, I was not only limiting my influence and income, but also my gifts and even my dignity.

By choosing limitations, I was settling for a limited life and a lesser me.

Something had to change, and fast.  I chose to jump the fence of what I was doing, and expand my horizons.  I connected with people I had ignored far too long, either out of fear or the excuse that it wasn’t my area in which to work.  I literally “put myself out there”, risking my reputation on both personal and public levels.  I did things I had never done before.  It was hard work, took longer than you might expect, and had no guarantee of good results.  I was scared to death.

And I succeeded.

My gifts started to grow beyond what seemed to be at a maximum at the time.  My personal sense of dignity and self-worth was beyond positive.  My reach to others expanded beyond any expectations I had until then.  Oh, and the bank account looked much better, too.

I feel that if you’re reading this article, you have either been at this kind of crisis point recently, or you’re in it right now.  It’s not fun or easy, but there is a truth here: If you’re experiencing this, it is a chance for you to recognize your limitations, release them and embrace your highest self.

Below are the six steps I took to recognize and release my limitations, so that I could become who I am truly meant to be.  Work through these slowly and deliberately to navigate your way through your situation to a more empowered, limit-free life!

  1. Observe. What’s going on right now? What are the limitations that you’ve set up for yourself, either on a conscious or unconscious level?  Now is not the time to discover their origins.  At this point, simply identify what your limitations are, as concretely as possible.
  1. Reflect. How are these limitations sabotaging your progress, not only on a professional/work level, but also on a personal level? Why do you want these limitations in your life – for safety, security, just because?
  1. Journal/Discuss. Journal about your observations and reflections, or discuss them with someone you trust. Get clear about what limitations you’ve set for yourself, and what they have done to both help and hinder your progress and growth.
  1. Plan. What are you going to do to blast through your limitations? What empowered steps can you take to start leaving your limitations behind and embrace your true potential…no matter how daunting or frightening those steps might be for you?
  1. Account. Who can you be accountable to for your changes? Sure, you might just say “yourself”, but try to find someone else to whom you can be accountable for your changes.  Otherwise, you can make excuses and compromises with your limitations, and end up sabotaging any growth you hoped to achieve.  That person (or people!) also will encourage you when you have self-doubts or second thoughts and fears.
  1. Act. Yes, this is the scary part. Actually put your plan into action and make the empowering changes in your life you need to make.  Realize that you will feel scared.  You will feel like it’s impossible.  You will feel out of your comfort zone.  With regard to those feelings, remember you went through this complex array of feelings emotions and mindsets at least once before: when you were born.  And you’re still here!  Make the leap of faith, knowing that you will land on your feet.  Let your accountability partner(s) (Step 5) be your cheerleader and motivator when you need it.   You can do it, and you will!

Finally, remember this one truth: If you do nothing, you will stay just where you’re at.  If you choose to move in a new and empowered direction, the freedom you gain is worth more than anything you can possibly imagine!

What is at the Core of You?

A few things got lost along the way as we coaches plunged into the realm of saving all of ourselves from ourselves. Our self righteous battle cry of “listen to me! I can save you from the stuff you are tired of doing/need to overcome/are overwhelmed by” rings true, but wow there is a cacophony of crows crowing it from every treetop. And you know what they call a group of crows right? A murder.

This got me thinking about what we are doing in this exploding industry. Are we murdering the self help industry with our online courses and big ticket coaching programs and formulas and lists of ten things you need to stop or start doing now. I know I get overwhelmed and I have gotten to the point where a lot of that stuff is just noise. And that got me thinking about where I fit in all of this, where No Limits Life fits.

I don’t want to Periscope or Hangout. I want to connect. I don’t want to get so bogged down in dogma, scripts, pipelines, autoresponders and templates that I don’t have time to talk to you. I can’t be that person, and I can’t run that business.

In June I have a strategic planning meeting I am facilitating and a speaking gig at a large corporation here in town, both on top of celebrating the fact that we just passed the 5 year mark of being in business as an integrative life coach seeing clients. I am more excited about those two events and the energy of clients I have been attracting than I am about spending another 5 years putting together online courses for you – courses you all tell me your biggest fear about is that you’ll buy it and not finish it. And guess what – you are right! You don’t finish it! Then you feel guilty and don’t want to connect with me or my team because you fear the judgement. Oh. My. God. That is so not what I want for you.

I want to speak to you. Yes you – the one sitting in the energetic corner knowing he or she wants more and scared of what might change (or God forbid not change) if you go after it.

  • I want to tell you that whatever idea you have brewing within is worth the investment in you.
  • I want to tell you that you deserve to be thorough in your analysis, and you deserve to be bold enough to do it without having all of the answers.
  • I want you to know that you deserve time that is just yours and that you don’t have to wait until your retirement years to do you. Live your life for you.

At my last corporate job I was a strategic development manager. Part of that role was to look at what we were doing, finding the opportunities to make it bigger or better or more profitable and then develop the business case to prove or disprove our idea. It was also about knowing our markets and where we played best. As the company flexed in and out of spaces of growth an oft used phrasing seemed perfectly appropriate for what I am feeling in this coaching business: I want to pull back into my core and do what I do well and do it the best out there.

And what is that? What do I do well?

I inspire you to believe in you, to find your inner warrior and to partner with him or her to kick ass and give you all you deserve in this life. I partner with you to shed the mantle of expectation and unleash your repressed rebel, closet creative or aspiring adventurer upon your life and to let your innermost desires out to play and become your reality. This isn’t fantasy, this is your blessed life. No one will love it like you can, and no one will make it the dream life you want except you –it’s all you babe.

At the very first workshop I did at my former employer after I began coaching full time I shared a technique I call “Aligning Priorities” and over a year later I learned of the impact that workshop had on one of the participants. She shared that part of the way through the workshop as she inventoried what she was doing in her life and what was working and what wasn’t, she found herself in tears. She found herself faced with the reality that life wasn’t what she wanted. Fast forward 12 months and she was thriving in a new job, living a very different life that had her smiling and happy to be her. And I had no idea. I sent her a note on Linkedin after noticing the job change and only then did she share her personal evolution and went on to thank me for the nudge that the workshop gave her.

I will gladly take 100 stories like this over 1 unfinished online course.

My team and I talked about this and we agreed, no more formulas, no more online courses that lack interaction, and we turn our focus to interacting with you live: in person, over webinar and the phone. Because your problems aren’t solved by formula and simple self discipline. If so, you would have solved it already. Your opportunities aren’t explored with a yoga class every week, if so you’d have already set the world on fire with them. These challenges are overcome and opportunities seized when you are inspired and supported through the fear to the action.

For you: What is your core? Some might call it your purpose, your calling or your truth. Whatever. You decide to call it, are you waking up and thinking about it, creating it and doing it every day?

There are two pieces to this evolution:

  1. Identify your core.
  2. Think, create, do everyday.

Start with number 1.

Create a list of the things you are doing and what you love about them. Find the common thread. This is leading you to your core. Keep digging until you find the heart of it – the feeling of being home.

Move to number 2.

Ask yourself every moment, is this aligned to my core? If yes, go with gusto. If no, question yourself.

I am not sure how to make it more simple than that. But what I can say is that if it were easy, you’d have already done it. I wish you the best my friend and I can’t wait to see how you core looks shining brightly to the world.

Why did you start a business?

You could be one of the 40% of small business owners that wants more FREEDOM to live your life however you want. Or perhaps you’re part of the 22% whose primary reason for starting a business is because you want to make a difference.

Either way, your business is your dream, your income, and your legacy. You probably can’t imagine your business failing any more than I can mine.

And yet, according to Bloomberg, 8 of 10 small businesses fail. That’s an amazing number… 80%! It just doesn’t seem fair, does it? It certainly doesn’t feel right.

So what causes 80% of small businesses to fail? Cash flow.

Without consistent cash flow, you’re long term outlook isn’t great.  A recent study showed that 87% of business owners struggle with cash flow.  This same study also found that nearly all of these businesses do not have systems in place to generate leads and appointments consistently.

Meanwhile, the other 13% of businesses that DO NOT have cash flow issues…nearly all of them reported that they DO have these systems in place.

Cash flow is the key, the key to maintaining and growing your business. So how do you achieve a consistent cash flow? Book more clients. And the way to do that, is to get in front of more prospects and book more appointments.

It sounds so simple, but we all know it’s much easier said than done. That’s why I’m so excited to tell you about Josh Turner’s new book,“Booked” which you can get 100% free for a limited time here.

If you want to find out how to attract as many warm prospects as you want – any time you want – Josh Turner’s new book is THE solution. There’s no one on the planet who’s created anything like the cutting-edge prospect and revenue generating system he reveals in Booked.

After years of research and a ton of trial and error, Josh created and fine-tuned an appointment generating system that has not only allowed his business to rapidly grow, but has helped thousands of other businesses in all sorts of industries do the same.

So when a guy with that record of success writes a book on how to generate more business, you KNOW it’s powerful information. His book, Booked, teaches the exact same system Josh and his clients are using to generate leads and appointments consistently.  And most importantly, fixing the cash flow problem for good.

Josh has made “Booked” available to you for free for a limited time. Check out this video below to see what all the hype is about.

This is an opportunity. When your business is humming along and bringing in the kind of revenue you’ve always dreamed of, everything changes. You’re able to live the lifestyle you want to live – and make a real difference in the world through the lives of the people you’ll impact with your business.

Josh’s company is making that kind of impact. So are hundreds of his clients. Just think how it will feel when you are too.

Go get your free book – and Josh will show you how.

The results are in for The State of Small Businesses Report

One of the best ways to plan and grow your business is to get an inside look at what other business owners are doing.

What strategies are they using to get their message out there?

What goals do they have in place for the next year?

That sort of information is normally hard to come by, but this State of Small Business Report, by my friend Josh Turner has got it all. This industry study, drawn from the survey results of over 1,200 small business owners, can give you a real understanding of the state of small businesses today, and what they’ve got planned for 2016.

The result is an in-depth, eye-opening report, which you can get for free right now:

The State of Small Business Growth (no opt-in required) <

This report will take you into the minds of over 1,200 business owners and show you…

  • What motivates them to grow their business
  • What their biggest challenges are
  • What processes they have in place to generate leads and add new clients
  • How they’ve differentiated themselves in their markets – or what they’ve tried that didn’t work

And that’s just scratching the surface. The information in this report is very telling, and it’s all here for you to use to your advantage in 2016!

In all honesty, some of this information is alarming. One of the craziest stats in this blog, is that over 80% of responders say that their current lead generation strategies are NOT sufficient to reach their goals.

Graph-1-Insufficient-Strategies-1

Fortunately, the data also shows the path to avoiding the pitfalls that many businesses encounter. Josh’s report will reveal how you can use this data to your advantage – go take a look now

There’s nothing to buy… there’s no opt-in. Just an outstanding report filled with some very smart insights to help you grow and scale your business.

I highly recommend you check it out

Aside

5 Lessons Turned Opportunity

The usual expression is “Lesson Learned, I’ll never do that again!”  You have likely said it right? Think about the energy behind that – it is stop energy.  It’s about what you don’t want to do instead of focusing on what you do want to do! And if you run around constantly telling yourself what you don’t want to do, it’s kind negative right?

So what if…just maybe… you focused that energy on creating the next movement.  If you said “Lesson learned! Here is the opportunity I created as a result” It feels different right?  A little more open, a little more forward moving, a little more positive.

I found myself shifting this paradigm as I thought about some of my experiences over the last few years – to be honest a little unconsciously at first.  The message was showing up and I was acting on it long before I realized what was actually happening, (way to be awake and conscious me! Sarcasm and eye roll implied).

Since I was a child I had been exposed to groups of people collaborating to serve others in a higher purpose kind of way: in my parents metaphysical community, living in a small town, as I joined ROTC and later in the Military, as a member of a church and then full circle to a metaphysical environment of my own. In each instance I learned lessons:

  1. The Lesson: Spirituality is a lifestyle, not a label. I have learned not to trust when I hear someone saying something and then see them do something different.

The Opportunity: Be patient and observe actions, and ensure my actions meet my intentions.

  1. The Lesson: People make up groups who support ideals and sometimes people suck. When the agenda of an individual is at odds with the agenda of the group, conflict happens; especially when that person is pushing theirs pretty hard, or in a super passive aggressive, undermining way.

The Opportunity: Obtain a clear understanding of the group focus and ensure it aligns with my personal ideals, or challenges them in a way I am willing to grow in that moment.

  1. The Lesson: Trust the first impression people make on you. I remember attending my very first meeting for a group I was joining to do something big and immediately perceiving the anointed leader was not actually willing to be the leader the idea needed to grow to full potential. Long story short, My intuitive hit was more accurate than not.

The Opportunity: Follow through with intuitive responses to situations.

  1. The Lesson: Money is an element in most groups – and it needs to be dealt with openly and honestly. Resist it or not, money is a part of the society we live in and operate with.  In a situation where you have more than one individual involved, if there is any perceived misuse or secreting of money issues, resentment can arise.

The Opportunity: Always be clear on matters of money where it affects a group larger than me.

  1. The Lesson: A leadership and management philosophy must be agreed on by the group. Whether there are formal leaders/managers or not, it doesn’t matter. But who the decision makers are and how they decision make and who gets to have input, matters.  Generically I have observed this in a variety of atmospheres where there is a “community” who was to work together and contribute on all things…but anything that didn’t agree with the “leader’s” personal philosophy became an issue. Collaboration is tough when there is public statement of community and a private sentiment of “it’s all mine”.

The Opportunity:  Be clear on leadership and management philosophy and be impeccable with my word with respect to implementation.

Using just the lesson energy from above, I could very easily resign myself to never working with a community again – to never collaborate with another group of individuals ever again.  Yep, I could easily lone wolf it, and probably be fairly happy and decently successful.

Yet, there was a philosophy I couldn’t turn my back on:

I don’t think we always do our best work alone.  I think we thrive in a community, whether it is formal or informal.  This community hosts all kinds of energies that help you individually and collectively grow. As I thought about this philosophy I wholeheartedly endorse, I reflected on another set of lessons learned – this time around my first year of business as a coach (which does overlap with a few of the above mentioned lessons – not attempting to confuse you!).

It was a tough decision to leave the “security” of my corporate job and leap into the unknown arena of building my coaching business.  I had very little in place when I did that and I spent a long period of time (and it continues), building, creating, making mistakes and redirecting myself and stumbling and falling and succeeding and over hills and valleys of all sorts! Phew.

It was not easy.  And in the middle of it I got divorced, my son started kindergarten, I moved, and realized the “friends” I had were really good when my life was a “mess”, but not so good when I started to get “better”.  And as I thought about how I could influence and support others, I realized I could help people through that first year by forming a community for aspiring providers to work in as they created their own path into being a coach, healer, creator or spiritual adviser of any sort.

It all synched up last fall as I furiously filled up a yellow legal pad on the sidelines of a soccer practice.  I couldn’t stop writing as the structure, the flow, the ideas, the concepts and design of a business model to support aspiring coaches healers and artists emerged and alongside the idea that this could also work for the same group who struggled with the “business” side of their business.   To prove I wasn’t nutty I reached out to a diverse group for feedback and was met with a “Please do this!” kind of response.

It took the combination of 1) being willing to acknowledge that I still held on to the ideal the people could work together on a common goal, 2) the knowledge that I was better with people than without and 3) discovery that lessons learned didn’t have to be full of stop energy,  for me to realize that I had stopped looking at lessons learned as things to never do again, and started looking at them as opportunities to help and serve based on these lessons.

In November and December of 2015 I began pulling together a group of service providers to work on the No Limits staff for 2016.  I give them mentoring, an infrastructure to work under complete with the necessary tools to run their business and marketing and client attraction support.  Alongside that they receive training , event coordination, speaking engagement booking and more.  In return, they pay me a commission based on the clients we enroll. We defeated the idea that starting up is super expensive and can’t be done. My intent was to destroy that excuse for not following your dream.

Going forward I will still see clients myself, but I was also be recruiting for my amazing staff of coaches who are aligned with the same philosophy I have: there are no limits to what you can do in this life time;  Release Limits, Embrace Life.  The synergy in the group of people who were attracted to this model, my work and their potential is awe inspiring and as I introduce them, you’ll be nodding in agreement!

In forming this collaborative group of professionals, I did my very best to translate the experiences I had in other groups in a positive way and focusing on collective success, individual success and a clear line of authority and structure. It is about supporting not only the No Limits Staff, but the community that forms around us, to fulfill their callings, conquer their inhibitions and truly step into their own authenticity.

So if this philosophy sounds like something you want to give a try, join the energy!  We invite you to join follow us on all the social media we cultivate: FacebookInstagramPinterestLinkedintumblTwitter . Keep a lookout for groups that will be forming virtually and locally where you can connect even further with this energy.
