Do You Work Your Life, or Does Life Work You? by Don Marlette

Every day you wake up and promise yourself that you’re going to live today to the fullest, and not let  your fears hold you back. You decide to do the tasks you’ve been putting off forever, deal with the assignment that’s been nagging you for the last two weeks, but –  somewhere along the way – you lose your nerve.   You keep postponing things and making excuses for all the wrong things that happen in your life.

And so it goes.  Every.  Day.

How do you take charge of your life?

Our culture’s conviction is that there must some technique, secret or product that, when applied properly, will make all our dreams come true and make us eager for the next step in our path.  The truth is there is no secret at all.  There is no magic system, seminar or ritual that will instantly erase your fears and zap you into your best life ever.  It’s really not a question of “how” to do anything!

We’re asking the wrong question.  Instead of asking “how” to take charge of your life, it is better to ask what kind of response life is asking of you from the outset.  Just as a child “out of control” is sometimes simply asking to be heard, your life may be asking you to stop and listen to your heart for a moment.

Actions to take charge of one’s life often fail because they are not inspired actions.  Think about when you’ve fallen in love.  Did you go out and buy the book, “The 8 Habits of Twitterpated Lovers” or “How To Enjoy the Person You’re Head-Over-Heels In Love With”?  No way!  Love itself seemed to take over, and you followed a mindset of inspired action that seemed to pull you effortlessly from one idea or action to the next.

The same is true about your life.  Life is not a project; it’s a love affair!  We spend far too much time building monuments bereft of meaning and fixing problems that are best left to someone else, all in the name of being “busy”, rather than taking inspired action from a heartfelt call.

You are not asked by life to “work on” things, to create personal growth projects or construct role-based goals, ideals and aspirations simply for their own sake.  Instead, you are asked to fall in love with life, allow your hopes and dreams to emerge from a passion-driven heart, and take inspired actions to make these hopes and dreams a reality.

The first step toward living from that passionate state is the most important.  Stop.  Find a quiet place with your journal and a pen.  Close your eyes and focus inward.  Listen to your heart’s call.  What is it saying to you at its deepest level?

The next step is to take an honest inventory of your life right now.  What is working in harmony with that call?  What is working against it?  And then be brutally honest with yourself: Are you willing to let go of those things that are in working against your heart’s deepest longing?

Finally, ask your heart what two or three actions you can take over the next week to make its desires a reality.  Listen carefully and note those actions.  Make a commitment to do them, realizing that these are inspired, soul-driven actions with a higher purpose.  You will quickly realize that these actions are things you really want to do, because they lead you to a life you actually want to have.

As you accomplish each action, celebrate it.  After all, this is not busywork; you are taking meaningful steps toward a soul-realized life!

Once you actually experience the energy and joy from moving toward who you really are, other inspired actions will start to emerge into your awareness.  Now I won’t lie to you: challenges will come your way at times.  Yet, you will be able to face these challenges, knowing that you are aligned with a greater purpose, and this alignment will give you the insight, energy and resolve to overcome those obstacles with creativity and focus.

Purposeful Living by Eilynn Dixon

Give yourself the permission to succeed.

Give yourself permission to live the life of your dreams.

Give yourself permission to be passionate and purposeful to have a powerful life.

There comes a time in life we ask the question: is there more to this life, am I living my purpose?

Once the questions begin to formulate you become aware that there is something more that you want. You have realized that you have been going through life just existing and not really living. You are having an awakened moment. When you realize that your life in the current state could be a little bit more in some aspect, and the life quest begins.

You have to be determined that you want to be fully engaged in life and responsible for your happiness. You have to be ready to be that person that you always wanted to be. It is now time for you to give yourself permission to start living the life of your dreams and living on purpose. It is time to start executing the baby steps to accomplish your big goals.

It is crazy to think you would choose to not be successful and not be engaged with your life purpose. But subconsciously we do that! There are times you will see you were faced with opportunities to be able to pursue the things you wanted most – but because there was no level of awareness you overlook them and then ask later why things don’t work out the way you wanted them to. There are always moments to be a success through the little things in life, but when you are asleep you don’t see them.

I am one that knows firsthand how important it is to be actively engaged in your life through living and not just existing:

When I had my awakened moment in 2011 it felt like I had been driving for a long time and arrived to my destination and didn’t know how I got there. It was as though, all the years prior to that moment were almost a blur because of my lack of living and only existing. I had raised children, gotten married, had successful positions and still all I was doing was existing. I was not living from who I really truly was, my authentic self. I didn’t remember because I took more time worrying about everything else instead of enjoying each moment and staying engaged in life and active in my happiness.

There were times I would be happy and ecstatic about all the greatness of life but those moments seemed to be brief and began to be spaced further and further apart until I did not even recognize the little moments of happiness. These moments that were important didn’t cost a dime, the little moments that matter most. Once I awakened and begin my journey of a purposeful life I begin to recognize happiness, I begin to see the moment and savor in the present. I begin to understand the importance of gratitude through doing things that I enjoyed that made my heart smile. Now don’t get me wrong, it is an everyday life long process to always to try to be a little bit happier or do something a little bit better to make your heart smile to always feel success.

It is important that we really smell the flowers and that we smile at a baby in the grocery store. It is also important to live on purpose through a work that is filled with passion.

When you are able to live every day doing what you love through purposeful and passionate living you feel awesome, it really is what we all aspire to have. We want to wake up each moment and skip out of bed excited to start the day, we all want to be able to have that hearty laugh that makes our belly ache, and we also want to be able to support, give things and experience the things in life that we so deserve. Life is meant to be full of many experiences through meeting new people, eating new things, seeing new things, and just being you! When you are able to start taking the baby steps to do this you will begin to live a life of living and not just existing!! Live your best life, my friend, you deserve all the greatness that you aspire for and oh so much more!!

BE YOU!!!!!

Be you without apology.

Be you without guilt.

Be you, the whole beautiful you!

Why?” you ask, because the world needs you!!

There is a weird phenomenon that plagues the world today, a belief that we are not good enough as we are.  There is an unfair practice of others judging and ridiculing our fellow man when we ALL in fact have things that we could be better at. Please know this for sure: you are perfect just the way you are.

There are things that happen in our life we feel we can’t make it through and feel our imperfections were the cause. But look you are still here, still standing, and now stronger than ever. Each and every one of us has a journey to go through to understand and know who we really are.  On this journey we understand how powerful and awesome we each are through our own unique backgrounds and circumstances. Everything about us makes us the perfect and only candidate to live the authentic purpose of who we are meant to be and how to deliver our gift to the world.

BE BOLDBE BRAVEBE YOU_EDLet’s just sit back and think about how awesome the world would be if we all lived up to being our authentic selves.  We would have the chance to engage with all types of people through conversation, laugher and love because that fear of non-acceptance would be a thought of the past.  When we are able to play 100% from the person that we are and the person we are born to be, we really start to feel good in our skin and able to live our purpose in life!!!

The fact is that sounds very good and all…but believe me I know it’s easier said than done.  This is an ideal way to be but it is not easy to unlearn all the things you were taught and begin to learn the things you could know!  It is about taking the baby steps in efforts to fulfill that purpose and live from a place of authenticity.

Let’s Try It:

  1. The baby steps can start with an identifying the little things about you, by making a list of the things that you really enjoy doing, things that really make you happy.
  2. From the list, strip all the labels that you have learned through your life. Daughter, Son, Sister, Brother, Employee, Volunteer etc. this list of labels describes duties of what you think you should be. This does not get to the core of you, this is about YOU AND ONLY YOU. This is about taking the baby steps of identifying who you are and the things you like. It may seem pretty small, but that is where the big dreams start to unfold, at baby steps.
  3. Once you have been able to strip yourself of the labels, think of the little things that you notice that make you smile. Is it a song? Is it a smell? Is it a book? Is it a place? Whatever it may be make note of them daily: what makes your heart smile and feel like you could read that book, be in that place, all day without notice of time. That is something that you have identified to be part of the real you!

This, in my opinion, is a lifelong process. When you begin to become aware of the things that you love to do and start replacing the items of lack with items of love you will begin to see your life transform into one that you love.

The world needs you to be you without apology, without guilt, the true authentic you full of love and laughter with so much to give to the world.  We are all put here for our own specific purpose and it does not matter what that purpose is, if it makes you feel good and you enjoy it that is what it’s all about!

It’s all about you, being the best you, enjoying you, once you do that it begins to permeate throughout your relationships, your finances, your self-esteem, and your confidence will soon begin to replace fears.

You will begin to start to notice a new person coming forth, a person that no longer apologies for loving their laugher, no longer apologies for their beliefs and values. You will be the person you always have been but allowed fear to stand in the way!!  BE YOU! J

I’d love to hear about that special place or activity that makes you feel just YOU.  Comment below and share it with us!

What’s the Law of Attraction really about?

from No Limits Life Team member,  Abby Wickersheim

Thoughts become things… that’s simple enough right?

Follow that mantra, manage your thoughts and you’re well on your way to living a lifestyle of the rich and famous. That was a revolutionary concept nearly a decade ago when The Secret was first released by Rhonda Byrnes. Her audience reached a global level as she shared the secret to it all, the law of attraction and positive thinking.

Like many of us do I was searching to find the key to it all, why was I frustrated and unhappy while others seemed to have it all? I watched with envy and jealously at those around me succeeding and it pissed me off enough to do something about it. I was 21 years old and new to the self-help world when my former boss gave me the DVD. I’ll admit I was expecting something so profound by the cover and title, it seemed to portray the masses being held down by the 1% and I certainly wasn’t a part of the 1%. When I finished the DVD I was excited about how easy it seemed, usually at the end of something like that there’s a sales pitch with a hefty price tag. You can get these great results IF you buy xyz and only IF.

abby law of attraction blog photo

The Secret offered relief and control over my own life. It goes on to cover the Law of Attraction – like attracts like – if you’re in a pissy mood you’ll attract pissy circumstances. It also covers your thoughts essentially setting your attraction point.

If you think negative thoughts over and over you’re going to get negative people and circumstances in your life.

The egoic brain likes to pumps thousands of negative thoughts a day and it becomes impossible to fight against them. Soon I found myself feeling bad when I had those negative thoughts. I’m smart enough to know now that those thoughts are bringing me the very things I don’t want and yet I can’t stop them from coming. I did begin to see results though, while the negative thoughts were present I was increasing the number of positive thoughts than I had before.

While things got better, it wasn’t quite the level of action that I wanted to see. That’s when I came across author, coach and self-proclaimed bullshit fairy Melody Fletcher who threw some serious knowledge on me. In her book Deliberate Receiving she explains the crucial missing piece to creation and manifestations – emotions.

She explains that it’s not necessarily about what you think but rather how you feel that is setting your vibrational point of attraction. When you use your emotion as your guidance system you can start to move yourself from the “negative emotions” into the more positive ones. She explains that all emotions have purpose and that purpose is to show us our vibrational point of attraction. Our perception of emotions are what makes them seem negative but there truly are no negative ones. Tuning into your emotions gives you the power back to get the results you want in your world. Let’s say you want that shiny new car, you REALLY want it. Notice the feelings that come up when you think about the new car. Does your attention immediately go to the hunk of junk up currently have that keeps breaking down? And how does it feel when that comes up? Probably not so good, so while you’re down in those yucky feelings it’s going to be pretty challenging for that new car to come your way.

Deliberate Receiving not only comes with the knowledge, but it also comes with tools to make shit happen. If you want a no bullshit guide to understanding and implementing the law of attraction in your life this is the one for you!

What Is Your Visionary Type?

by Don Marlette DonMarlette(558x800)

The word “visionary” conjures up a number of images in my mind’s eye: the guru on the mountain top who attracts followers of all stripes, the leader with a mystical look in her eyes who cares more about practical change and less about what people think of her, the rebel who charges ahead, undaunted by opposition on every side – and these are but a few!

At some level, we are all visionaries.  Remember the first time that you thought about who you wanted to be when you grew up.  Recall the last time you could see yourself in a serious relationship with someone.  These are examples of many “visionary moments” we experience.  When we allow certain visionary moments to grow and develop into a consuming passion, we pass into the realm of the visionary lifestyle.

How that visionary lifestyle will look depends upon you.  I have found numerology to be a helpful tool to discover one’s “visionary type” or mode of visionary life.  Once you know your Visionary Type, you can discover your strengths and areas for growth, so that you can live a visionary lifestyle that is in harmony with your highest self.

To discover your own Visionary Type, simply write down the numerical month and day of your birth in the spaces below.  Then add them together, and keep adding the individual numbers together until you get a single number.  For example, if I were born on August 18, (which becomes 08-18), I would write:

0 + 8 + 1 + 8  =  17  and then…  1 + 7  = 8  = Visionary Type

Now it’s your turn:

__+___+___+___  = _____   and then…  ___+___  =  ___  =  Your Visionary Type

Now that you’ve found your Visionary Type number, match it to the corresponding description below to discover more about your type!

  1. The Reforming Visionary. Your idealism is key to living out your vision.  You have very high standards, and want to be a person of integrity in living them each day.  While maintaining a fierce loyalty to your vision, you may have problems with resentment and patience.  Stay in the moment and avoid becoming consumed by self-criticism or criticism of others.
  1. The Helping Visionary. Your ease of expressing your true feelings, unconditional love for others, and ability to connect with others will help you to bring your vision into reality. Living out your vision may be challenging at times, due to a tendency toward becoming sentimental and overly concerned with the opinions of others.  Become more emotionally aware and self-nurturing to more effectively make your vision a reality.
  1. The Results Visionary. Your ability to pull people into your circle of friends will take you far. You can be very driven toward success, and work very hard to be productive and effective in everything you do.  Watch out for workaholism and egotism, as you may easily tilt toward burnout or over-concern about your image.  Work on becoming more self-accepting and authentic in your relationship with yourself, as well in your relationships with others.  A balanced life will help you achieve your vision more effectively than overwork and “burning the midnight oil.”
  1. The Independent Visionary. Your independence stems from your desire to be more reserved and alone. Solitude is your greatest teacher, as well as the wellspring of your own dynamic creativity.  Be careful of falling into self-pity or personal drama; your life is actually better than you may perceive it right now.  Good social interactions will help you gain perspective.  Strive to become more objective and principled so that you can see your true progress in achieving your goals.  You are doing better than you think!
  1. The Cerebral Visionary. Your constant curiosity, alertness to information, and innovative approaches help you on your path. Your pioneering spirit helps you blaze new trails in making your vision a reality.  Because you are very much “in your head”, you may tend toward becoming more isolated and eccentric than you would like.  Develop greater self-confidence and decisiveness, so that you don’t become trapped into thinking you have to do everything.
  1. The Responsible Visionary. You don’t really see yourself as the visionary type! You want to be secure in what you do, so striking out into the unknown is more than a little scary.  However, you do have a rebellious streak in you, and that rebelliousness is the hatchery of your true visionary creativity.  Get in touch with that, and courageously champion that vision with all your might.  Yes, letting go of security can be frightening, but life will become much richer for you when you do.
  1. The Playful Visionary. Your playfulness, spontaneous and optimistic nature will give you the fuel to achieve your goals. Beware of becoming too impulsive and off-task, however.  Once you make a decision, strive to follow through to its completion.  Also, get in touch with your own inner pain, as it will help you to become more authentic and reach more people effectively.
  1. The Challenging Visionary. Your strong self-confidence helps you to forge ahead and get things done, especially in making your vision a reality. Although your assertiveness can help you accomplish great things, be mindful that you do not become intimidating or controlling.  Use your strengths to become more inspiring for others and improve their lives.
  1. The Self-Effacing Visionary. Yes, you want to have a peaceful life and not trouble the waters too much, and there is a way to achieve your goals without stepping on too many toes. Realize that confrontation and occasional conflict are part of the work of manifesting your dreams, and your natural peacefulness and calm will make these confrontations less dramatic than you may fear.  Work on becoming more self-developing and self-confident to bring out the best in yourself for the good of others.

Keep in mind these Visionary Types are not set in stone.  They are intended to help you see your own strengths, and how you can incorporate them in to your life.  Your own unique “stamp” on your Visionary Type is not only important, but necessary for you to articulate, plan and implement a vision and goals that are truly your own.

Have fun adding this to your personal toolbox for making your dreams a reality!

GET BACK IN THE GAME

contributed by Eilynn Dixon

You are likely familiar with the biggest game of the year for football where fans and players to get to see the final showdown of the two best teams. This year 2016 it was between Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, I had the awesome opportunity of visiting Denver on the night of the game. As I watched the winning fans revel in their triumph it made me think about how The Big Game is so much like our everyday game of Life and how important it is for us to stay in the game!

There will be moments in life that you want to get out of the game, stay on the sidelines and watch everyone else play. This is not living the life of your dreams and this will not get you to your Big Game of living the life of your dreams. You can either choose to keep looking at what others are doing and saying “oh wow that is nice”, “wish I could do that”, or you can get back in the game and choose a different position. That is what it is all about – staying in the game; there will be moments you might need a break and to get rehydrated, take a vacation, visit friends for overdose of laughter, exercise, anything that will give you fuel to keep you going. Then you get back out there and keep playing. There will come a time when you begin to analyze the position that you are playing, maybe it does not seem as challenging anymore or you are having a hard time defining your duties. These positions of life are where we start to look inward and see what is most important and decide that we can either stay where we are in unhappiness or we can change the position of life and start living the life of our dreams.

There was a time in my life about two years ago that I had a really tough time figuring out what to do next for me and how to get me out of a rut. It was like I woke up one day and asked myself, “Where did I go? Where am I?”

  • There were days when I didn’t want to get out of bed and see anybody, but I just pushed myself each time and went through the motion.
  • Even going through the motion I still just felt like a shell.
  • My Grandmother had recently passed and my relationships were in turmoil.
  • I couldn’t tell if I was still grieving or if I was just upset at the world. I had a hard time allowing myself to just be me and be okay with who I was at that moment.

I had to make a decision to either stay on the sideline of living the life of a shell or get back in the game.

It is ok – whatever happened in the past, today is a new day, and the opportunity to live a new way. I am ready to get back in the game and play a different position and create a different playbook. There might be a chance to even get a few new team members.

It’s all about making the necessary choices and execute actions to become that person you want to be not be the person the world expects you to be.

It’s about recognizing all your gifts, talents, happiness that make up your wonderful self that is you!! We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines you have to stay in the game and always remember to look to your Higher Power for guidance. My Coach and Captain of my game is my Heavenly Father, He keeps the game fair as He promised and provides all the equipment, tools and gear I need to be successful. I just keep my heart full of faith and gratitude while enjoying the little moments and taking baby steps to live the life of my dreams.

A Solid (And Easy) Foundation for 2016

by Don Marlette

The New Year has begun, and it’s time to set your goals for the year. Make your dreams happen, improve your relationships, change your job, lose some weight… the list is endless. Then you have to figure out how to actually do all of it without going crazy!

Regardless of your goals, it’s important to begin with a solid foundation. Most of the time, though, we build our hopes and dreams on the shifting sand of our current habits. When our dreams and goals are challenged, our old habits kick in to gear, and everything starts to shift. Before we know it, the sand has shifted and our house is lost to the elements. Sabotage!

When we choose to build our dreams and goals on the solid rock foundation of simple and easy daily practices and habits, everything changes. Challenges may happen, but we can weather them more successfully, and we greatly increase our chances of meeting our goals, no matter what they are.

Below are three foundational practices: the Morning Minute, the Random 100, and the Evening Shoes. These provide a solid foundation that will give you greater control over your day, increase your sense of accomplishment, and infuse your life with gratitude.

1. Morning Minute. This is probably the toughest – and most rewarding – practice that you can do. It is a huge step in taking control of your life. And it’s as simple as waking up in the morning.

You’re sleeping soundly, indulging in that latest dream….and the alarm beings to sound. Time to wake up! Or is it?

Usually, one would hit the snooze button for a few extra minutes of shut-eye. But why? After all, those few extra minutes are going to be interrupted again by the blare of the alarm, which means you really didn’t get any good “extra” sleep anyway.

Choose instead to get up at the first sounding of your alarm. Yes, it means putting your feet out of the bed onto the cold floor. Yes, it means pushing yourself a bit more. Yes…you would rather stay in bed.

But. But. In the first minute of the day you’ve met a challenge and crushed it! You’re already a rock star! This starts the ball rolling in a positive direction. After all, if you can truly engage in “mind over mattress” and master yourself for this first minute, there is so much more you can do to make your best life start happening for the rest of the day!

2. The Random 100. You have work to do, people to meet, and time to use wisely. Yet, we seldom realize how much of our days are spent in criticism of ourselves (or others), wanting “more” to happen, and constant comparison of ourselves to any number of people, standards or ideas.

The Random 100 challenges us to make random acts of gratitude at least 100 times each day. Rather than focus on what’s missing, the Random 100 moves our attention to what is already present, with an attitude of thankfulness and gratitude. It’s as simple as saying “thank you” when something positive happens, and saying “thank you” when something challenging comes our way.

Over time, gratitude starts to become a focus for our day, and we begin to see the real gift of the Present Moment, with all its power and possibility.

3. Evening Shoes. The Evening Shoes is a perfect time to reinforce all the positive steps you’ve made today. And it’s as easy as looking at your shoes.

Take a look at your shoes. Where have they been today? Where did you go? What did you do? What people did you meet…or avoid? Just think about it for a moment.

Now think about your victories. What triumphs did you have today? What positive steps did you make for any or all of your goals?

Finally, think about tomorrow. What will you do differently tomorrow? What new steps will you take in your shoes? What will make your shoes have an even more awesome report tomorrow night?

Now you can go to sleep knowing that you’ve made progress, and tomorrow is another set of forward steps in the right direction.

These three habits are simple, easy, and you can do them for a lifetime. They provide you with a solid foundation that will give you more confidence to achieve your goals, whether they are for the day, month, year, or even a lifetime.

Try them for one month, and experience the change for yourself!
